Tyrone Terek Patterson Named Suspect in the Murder of Atlanta Teen Darnell Fields

Atlanta police name suspect, Tyrone Terek Patterson, in the shooting death of Darnell Fields.

Atlanta police said Tyrone Terek Patterson, 30, is a suspect is in the murder of Darnell Fields, though a warrant has not yet been issued for his arrest. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Fields died Thursday night after being shot several times while walking to a neighborhood swimming pool with his aunt, 32-year-old Cande Hope near College Park.

Hope and Fields were walking along the path when someone walked up to them, the AJC said. The pair exchanged words with the individual, who then fired several shots, injuring Cande Hope in the leg, and fatally wounding Fields.

According to Darnell Fields' mother Shaquina Mitchell, he was an honor roll student and ran track, even recently earning a second-place medal, the AJC said. He would have been a senior this upcoming school year at North Clayton High School.
