Elderly Woman Dies from Heat in West Philadelpia, Pa.

Elderly West Philadelphia woman fifth person to die from heat related causes in Pennsylvania.

SHOCK: The heat is being blamed for the death of an 92-year-old West Philadelphia, Pa., woman. According to Philly.com, a neighbor went to check on the elderly woman and found her on her bed on the second floor of her home on Monday.

The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, has been ruled by the Medical Examiner as the fifth person to die from heat related causes in the city this year. Jeff Moran, spokesman for the Medical Examiner's office, said windows were open and a fan operating on the first floor of the woman's house, but only one window was open about four inches on the second floor, where she was found.

This a tragedy. Please, help keep our elderly safe. If they live alone, check on them often and help them stay cool. I am afraid that the death toll from heat related deaths in the United States will climb. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this woman.
