List of Alleged Illegal Immigrants, Mainly Hispanics, Mailed in Utah Sparking Outrage

List of alleged illegal immigrants, mainly Hispanics, with personal information such as Social Security numbers, phone numbers & children's names, mailed in Utah.

A lot of Hispanics are reportedly terrified in Utah after a list containing the names and personal information of 1,300 people was mailed in there and an anonymous group contends the names belong to illegal immigrants. According to the Arizona Republic, most of the names on the list are of Hispanic origin and contains highly detailed personal information, such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, workplaces, addresses and telephone numbers. The names of children were also reportedly included, plus due dates of pregnant women were also on this list.

The list's release comes as several conservative Utah lawmakers consider sponsoring a tough new illegal immigration law similar to the one passed recently in Arizona. Arizona's law, which takes effect July 29, directs police enforcing other laws to ask about a suspect's immigration status if there is reason to believe the person is in the United States illegally.

The letter included a long recipient list, including newspapers, broadcast outlets, The Associated Press, law enforcement and state agencies, various Utah officials, and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Salt Lake City. The letters began arriving in mailboxes in recent days. Source
I can't begin to even fathom why anyone would stoop so low. I have long maintained that the federal government has done little to curb illegal immigration, but for a group to take it into its own hands to send a list of allegedly illegal immigrants, along with their personal information is disturbing on so many levels.

UPDATE #1:  According to MSNBC, Utah officials have identified at least two state workers who apparently breached a state database to create a list of 1,300 purported illegal immigrants. Gov. Gary Herbert's office said Friday that the employees work for the Department of Workforce Services, which administers food stamp programs and other public benefits.
