Mark Williams Expelled from Tea Party Due to Fallout From Racist Blog Post Poking Fun at "Coloreds"

Tea Party Federation expels spokesman Mark Williams after he wrote racist blog post poking fun at "coloreds" in wake of NAACP resolution calling for Tea Party to crack down on racist elements.

For once I can applaud the Tea Party Federation for doing the right thing. It has expelled conservative commentator and Tea Party Express spokesman Mark Williams because of an inflammatory blog post he wrote, the federation spokesman David Webb said Sunday during an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation." He said they were no longer a part of the federation.

Williams, who is no stranger to racist rhetoric about President Obama, wrote the blog post in response to a resolution by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) that called on Tea Party leaders to crack down on racist elements in the movement.

Here is an excerpt from CNN of the post Williams wrote. It has since been removed from the website after it sparked widespread outrage:

"Dear Mr. Lincoln,"

"We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!"

Williams went on to write that the Tea Party movement couldn't be racist because it opposed government bailouts for Wall Street banks and big corporations.

"Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn't that what we want all Coloreds to strive for?" the posting said. "What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds!"
Now, are we to ignore the fact that there is racist rhetoric emanating from a handful within the Tea Party movement? Still, I won't condemn the entire movement and I applaud the federation for taking a big step in the right direction. I saw Mark Williams on Geraldo Rivera's show on Fox News last night and he sat there with a self-righteous look on his face, all the while ignoring the fact that he has been a big factor in the racist rhetoric coming from factions within the Tea Party movement.
