Rand Paul, Kentucky GOP U.S. Senate candidate, tells crowd at Kentucky Capitol, that his Democratic opponent Jack Conway, will have to run away from President Barack Obama and his policies.
Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican U.S. Senate candidate told a Tea Party crowd on the Kentucky State Capitol lawn Saturday evening that his Democratic opponent Jack Conway will have to run away from President Barack Obama and his policies, according to the Courier-Journal. He said,"I don't think he can run fast enough," Paul told a cheering crowd of several hundred people at the Tea Party's Freedom Festival 2010.I was not surprised to read that some people in the crowd were carrying revolutionary war-era flags and signs decrying the current state of Washington D.C., specifically that is it being run by a black president, Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Some were reportedly even dressed in revolutionary-era attire, with some complete with tri-corn hats. You could view that in two ways, these people are patriotic and want to fight for the America they believe in or they are stuck in the dark ages of American history and can't deal with a black man running the country. I would like to think that the majority of those people hate the way this country is being run, starting with George W. Bush and the run-away spending on both sides of the aisle, with nothing of substance to help the middle class or even lift this country out of this terrible economic nightmare.
Paul quoted poet T.S. Elliott during his 17-minute speech and told supporters that Conway's positions on issues like energy and taxes are closer to Obama's than they are to average Kentuckians. "The people are sick and tired of an overreaching government, of a deficit out of control -- they want their government back," Paul said. Source
