Black Church Leaders in Harlem in a Tizzy Over Planned Gay Pride Picnic, Says Gay Agenda will Harm Community

Black local church leaders in Harlem up in arms over upcoming Harlem Pride Picnic, Dr. Ronald Ferguson says "God doesn't want to see homosexuals in our parks."

The second annual Harlem Pride picnic is slated for June 24, 2011, and local black pastors aren't too happy about the event. One pastor, Dr. Ronald Ferguson, who leads Antioch Church of God in 124th street, described the upcoming event as "a slippery slope" and told the New York Daily News that "God doesn't want to see homosexuals in our parks." Really? God aside, I thought this was a free country, where one's sexual orientation had no bearing on whether one goes to the park or not. Seems to me these people pay taxes just like everybody else.
"The park is a family area, and the homosexual agenda will do nothing but harm the community," said Pastor Charles Curtis of Mount Olivet Baptist Church. "Due to our religious beliefs, we do not support ... that event." Source
Dr. Ferguson and the other black church leaders in Harlem have a choice, don't go to the park that weekend if it galls them so much to see two men holding hands.
