Canadian Constable Garrett Styles killed after being struck and pinned underneath vehicle during traffic stop in Gwillimbury, driver of vehicle arrested.
We don't often report on Canadian officers being killed in the line of duty, but it is important nonetheless and we regret to inform you that Constable Garrett Styles, 32, with the York Regional Police Service, was struck and killed during a traffic stop.According to Officer Down Memorial Page, Styles has stopped a vehicle at an intersection in Gwillimbury, Ontario. He was then struck by another car and pinned underneath. He was able to radio for help, but later died when he was transported to a hospital in Newmarket. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was arrested.
Styles served with the police department for seven years and is survived by a wife and two young children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
