Buju Banton Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison, Five Years Probation for Role in Cocaine Deal

Mark Myrie, AKA Buju Banton, sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years probation, for role in cocaine deal in 2009, judge gave no leniency.

Grammy-award winning reggae superstar Buju Banton has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five year probation, for his role in a cocaine deal, ABC News said. Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was sentenced Thursday morning in Tampa federal court after he was convicted in February for his role in setting up a cocaine deal in 2009.
