Unidentified Woman Falls to Death from Rooftop at W Hotel Near White House

Unidentified woman dies after falling from rooftop bar at W Hotel across from White House grounds.

The W Hotel is in the news again, after a woman fell to her death from the bar on the roof of the hotel, which is located across from the White House grounds. You will recall aspiring model LaShawna Threatt and her best friend, Ciara Williams fell to their deaths in May after a night of celebrating her birthday in Atlanta. Lawsuits are pending in that case in which the two women fell when a hotel window gave way.

Witnesses told a police officer that the woman had been drinking at the bar on the rooftop patio of the W hotel, and that she climbed over a fence on the patio.

D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said witnesses told authorities that the woman was then seen hanging by her hands from an overhang one story below the rooftop around 11 p.m.

While the woman in this case had been drinking and climbed over a fence, the public relations for the hotel is largely negative. Some people are going to avoid patronizing W Hotels nationwide because of the spate of deaths.
