Lack of Native Afro-Brazilian Models Spark Outrage at São Paulo's Fashion Week

Protesters says Brazil's catwalks are too white and not enough Afro-Brazilian faces at São Paulo fashion week.

Trouble on the catwalk for Brazil's Fashion Week, as the lack of indigenous Afro-Brazilian faces have sparked outrage. According to the Guardian, the lack of black models São Paulo fashion week has triggered protests and calls for a 20 percent quota of black faces.
"We cannot accept the world of fashion insisting on being a stronghold for the Eurocentric," said Frei Davi Santos, the Brazilian race campaigner behind the protests.

"São Paulo fashion week sells the image of a Swiss Brazil where everyone is white and blue-eyed. The organisers ... forget that more than half of Brazil's population is black."
It's a real shame that it has to get to this for black models to be given a chance to prove themselves at these shows. Read more from UK Guardian.
