Berks County Deputy Kyle Pagerly was shot and killed while serving a warrant as part of a fugitive task force at a home on Pine Swamp Road in Albany Township, Pa.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Deputy Pagerly and his canine chased the suspect, who opened fire with an AK-47, striking Deputy Pagerly in the head. The suspect was killed when other officers returned fire.
Deputy Pagerly, who was a U.S. Army veteran, served with the Berks County Sheriff's Department for five years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the fallen officer.
