URGENT: 4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern California, 11 Miles East of Downtown Los Angeles

URGENT: 4.4 magnitude earthquake rocks Southern California at 4:04 a.m. No reports of injuries or damage.

Residents of Southern California were jolted out of bed this morning by a 4.4 magnitude earthquake. There were no reports of damage or injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times. The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor shook at 4:04 a.m. about 11 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and about a mile from Pico Rivera.

The depth was recorded at about 11 miles. The quake struck near the spot of the much larger Whittier Narrows temblor that struck in 1987, though officials have not identified the fault involved in this latest earthquake. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was also felt from San Diego to Santa Clarita.
