Melody Onyonyor of LaGrange, Ga., Charged with Circumcising 10-Month Old Daughter

Georgia woman, Melody Onyonyor, charged with cruelty to children and female genital mutilation for circumcising her 10-month-old daughter.

Melody Onyonyor, 35, of LaGrange, Ga., was charged with cruelty to children after police said she circumcised her 10-month-old daughter. She was arrested following an investigation by the Troup County Sheriff's Office and the Division of Family and Children Services.

According to WSB-TV, a relative of the infant's father noticed that the child was circumcised. She was later taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where an examination determined that the infant's clitoris was removed.

Onyonyor was also charged with female genital mutilation. Quite a few words come to mind to describe this woman, but I'll take the high road . Her fate rests in the hands of the court system, which will be only too happy to throw her into the general population in prison for a long time.
