Police reportedly find body of missing Atlanta banker, Tony Edge, who went missing Tuesday, after going to Stone Mountain to study. Foul play not suspected.
Tony Edge, 35, an Atlanta banker, was reported missing by his wife when he did not return home yesterday, after going to Stone Mountain to study.
WSB-TV is now reporting that he has been found dead. According to park chief police, Chuck Kelley, Edge's body was found on the carving face side of Stone Mountain on Wednesday morning at 8:20. The police said it appears Edge fell to his death.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik said DeKalb authorities called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation after locating Edge's car in the parking lot of the park, but there is no sign of Edge. GBI representatives searched the car extensively for clues.
Melissa Edge told Petchenik that her husband sent her a text message at about 4:45 p.m. stating that Edge, a MBA student at Emory University, was studying on top of Stone Mountain and wished she was there. Investigators said Edge’s wife became especially concerned after he missed a pre-scheduled class meeting. A triangulation of his cell signal shows his phone is no longer in the park, investigators said. Source: WSB-TV
Chief Kelley said, Edge, who had hiked to the top of the mountain to study on Tuesday, fell about 600 feet, according to Kelley. He also said Edge's body was found about 150 yards west of the famous carving of Civil War heroes. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Tony Edge.
