Houston Teacher Fired After "Encouraging" Students to Punch Devarius Williams as Punishment for Punching a Little Girl

Houston teacher fired after "encouraging" students to repeatedly punch Devarius Williams in the face after he punched a little girl while on a school trip.

A teacher Robindell Private School in Houston, TX, has been fired after Devarius Williams repeatedly punched a little girl while on a school trip. The teacher then reportedly told the other students on the trip to punch the little boy in his face as a means of punishment. According to KPRC Local 2, the teacher has been accused of encouraging it.

According to KPRC Local 2, the problems started when Williams and other children from the school took a field trip to a restaurant in Sugar Land last week. Devarius' parents said he got into a fight. Devarius' mother, Barbara Mobley, said the teacher had her own idea of discipline.

"The teacher that was driving his particular van got him and his group together and said, 'When we get on the van, I want everybody to punch Devarius in the face because he punched the little girl in the face,'" Mobley said. Mobley estimated that at least a dozen children hit her son.

"As each child got on the bus, she said 'go,'" Mobley said. "They punched my son and went and sat down."

The teacher was fired within minutes of the complaint being made. The school maintains that "the teacher had been working at the school for six or seven years and her reaction may have been a moment of weakness, out of frustration and dealing with a child she's had a problem with over the last several months."
While the teacher had no right to encourage the punching of this child in the face, the parents of Devarius Williams seem to be raising a brat. He had no right to punch the girl in the face. His mother is worried about the possibility that her "child's life could have ended because of major health problems" but what about the life of the little girl he punched in the face? I would venture to say that he has been a problem-child to this teacher.

Now, so-called community leader Quanell X is taking it to the extreme and I am certainly not surprised by his reaction. He is calling "on the director of the state regulatory agency that regulates this specific school to shut it down." Again, what about the welfare of the little girl this child punched?
