Michael Corrigan posts racially motivated sign, "white power," on his garage door in bid to deter blacks from purchasing vacant home next to his.
It seems that racism has reared its ugly head on Chicago's South Side Beverly neighborhood and Michael Corrigan, the man behind this dustup, isn't backing down. It would seem that Mr. Corrigan, who happens to be white, wants to make sure nobody black buys the vacant home next to his house in the 9900 block of South Fairfield. He posted a message on his garage summing up the way he feels.
"Say no to the ghetto. White Power. Mt. Greenwood, the next Englewood” is what it reads, and right next to the racially charged black block letters hangs a white noose. Source: MyFoxChicagoHe was confronted by a MyFoxChicago reporter and said it was “yard art.” According to Chicago Police, who were called to the scene Tuesday afternoon after a complaint, Corrigan said he has black friends, but has had problems with black people in the past, claiming he had been robbed a couple of times.
Of course, he hasn't broken the law by his actions, but it is still offensive. I am surprised that this has just been disclosed since one person reportedly said it has been there since last summer.
