A 6.0 magnitude earthquake has struck the eastern province of Elazig in Turkey. According to Fox News, Gov. Muammer Erol said at least five people are dead and there is damage to houses in at least one village.The Istanbul-based Kandilli Observatory says the quake occurred at 4:32 a.m. (0232 GMT) Monday and was followed by an aftershock measuring 4.1, according to Fox News.
Turkey, which lies atop the North Anatolian fault, has been struck frequently by earthquakes, with the two most powerful striking northwestern Turkey in 1999 and killed thousands.
