Isaiah Vinson, 17, pushed into a busy street shortly after school was dismissed. Struck and killed instantly by city truck.
SHOCK: Isaiah Vinson, 17, was reportedly pushed into a busy street, shortly after classes at St. Paul's Central High School let out on Tuesday, where he was immediately hit and killed by a city truck. School officials said Vinson, 17, was a junior at the school. According to
Pioneer Press, Sgt. Paul Schnell said they were still investigating whether the death was the result of horseplay or something more deliberate. Two witnesses reportedly said he might have been punched, though the police seem to think he was shoved.
Vinson was standing at the northwest corner of the intersection of Selby Avenue and Lexington Parkway about 2:10 p.m. — 10 minutes after Central let out for the day — when he was reportedly pushed into Lexington. A southbound city parks and recreation truck, driven by a bricklayer who has been working for the city for six years, struck the teen just before the intersection.
Police tested the driver of the city truck at the scene and found no alcohol in his system. Witnesses said the flatbed truck was traveling in the righthand lane and appeared to be going the appropriate speed, Schnell added. Source: Pioneer Press
As of Wednesday evening, there were no suspects in police custody. If you saw something, please contact the St. Paul Police Department. This young man didn't have to die. This was a senseless act of violence.
