Dentist Michael Clair Accused of Using Paper Clips in Root Canals, Billing Medicaid for Stainless Steel Posts

Michael Clair, former Fall River, Ma., dentist accused of using paper clips in root canals and then billing Medicaid for stainless steel posts.

Just when you thought the news couldn't get any crazier, a story of a dentist putting paper clips in patients' mouths during root canals comes along. What is equally disgraceful is that former Fall River, Ma., dentist Michael Clair, billed Medicaid for the stainless steel posts he should have used instead.

The state attorney general said a grand jury indicted Clair last week on charges including assault and battery, larceny, submitting false claims to Medicaid and illegally prescribing prescription drugs. According to the Boston Globe, prosecutors allege Clair hired other dentists for his clinic and filed claims under their numbers between August 2003 and June 2005. He reportedly now lives in Maryland and was suspended by Medicaid in 2002.

There's more appalling accusations against this dirtbag. He is also accused of illegally prescribing drugs to staffers who returned medications to him. He is scheduled to be arraigned April 8.
