Nita Hanson, Black Woman Whose Call to Dr. Laura Schlessinger Sparked a N-Word Rant, Says She's Hurt

Nita Hanson, the black woman whose phone call to Dr. Laura Schlessinger sparked an five-minute N-word rant, says she's confused and hurt by the call.

The woman who called Dr. Laura Schlessinger for advice appeared on CNN Thursday morning. Nita Hanson said she was confused and hurt by the call, during which Dr. Laura used the N-word 11 times.

"I was calling her to get some help," Nita Hanson told CNN's "American Morning." "I did not expect to hear the things that she said to me."

Hanson called Schlessinger August 11, seeking advice on how to deal with racist comments from her white husband's friends and relatives. The conversation evolved into a discussion on whether it's appropriate to ever use the N-word, with Schlessinger arguing it's used on HBO and by black comedians.

"It's never OK to use that word," Hanson said. "I have a problem with Dr. Laura because she's old enough to know better. She knows where that word came from." Source
Dr. Laura and all the people who use this word are wrong and perpetuating negative stereotypes. I am appalled and shocked at so little coverage in the right wing media about Sarah Palin's endorsement of Dr. Laura Schlessinger and her 1st Amendment rights.
