President Barack Obama wades into more controversy by saying Muslims have right to build mosque near site of NY City September 11, 2001, terror attacks.
I cannot understand why President Obama always wades into the sea of controversy. On Friday, he forcefully endorsed building a mosque near Ground Zero, saying that the country's founding principles demand no less. Really? Why couldn't President Obama just say no comment? Why risk alienating more voters? Personally, I wouldn't want the mosque there either. It's an insult to the thousands of people who lost their lives during the terror attacks of 2001. President Obama's statement will also reinforce the notion that some people hold that he is sympathetic to Muslims.
"As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country," Obama said, weighing in for the first time on a controversy that has riven New York City and the nation.
"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable." Source: Fox News
Sorry President Obama, your admission is another reason for many to say you are out of touch with the American people. That was a bad move on his part to get involved in yet another controversy.
