Washington state woman dies after suffering heart attack and "protectively aggressive" pitbull bars medical help.
A Washington woman died after her pit bull was “protectively aggressive,” barring medical help for her. According to the
Kitsap Sun, the Bremerton woman, who had medical problems, was walking the dog at about 11:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of E. 17th Street, Bremerton Police Detective Jason Vertefeuille said. She suffered a heart attack and fell to the sidewalk. The dog would not let neighbors help the woman, though it didn’t bite anybody.
A policeman was flagged down because the dog was acting aggressively, Vertefeuille said. While he was attending to the dog, he saw the owner lying on the sidewalk. He shot the dog with a Taser so he could get access to its owner, then he and a neighbor performed CPR. Source
I am sorry for the loss of this woman's life, but for once a news story about a pit bull is more positive than all the bad press these dogs have received. The dog was fiercely loyal to its owner and was just protecting her.
