Bryant Gumbel Announces on "Live with Regis & Kelly" that He had Surgery for Lung Cancer

Bryant Gumbel announced Tuesday morning that he had cancer surgery two months ago to remove a malignant tumor on his lung. He is guest-hosting "Live with Regis and Kelly," filling in for Regis Philbin, who recently underwent successful hip replacement surgery. 

Bryant told viewers that he kept the surgery private. He also said he and his doctor hope his treatment is complete.

Gumbel is the host of HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel." He spent 15 years as co-host of NBC's "Today" show.
