Body of Mount Hood Climber Luke T. Gullberg Recovered, Two Others, Anthony Viette & Katti Nolan, Still Missing

Luke T. Gullberg's body was recovered by crews searching on Oregon's Mount Hood, more than a day after he and two others set out to climb the west side of the 11,000 foot peak. The remaining climbers, identified as Anthony Viette, 24 of Longview, Wa., and Katti Nolan, 29, of Portland, are still missing. They have been described as experience and well-equipped. A search  for Vietti and Nolan was set to resume at dawn.

Jim Strovink, Clackamas County sheriff's spokesman said the body of Gullberg, 26, of Des Moines, Ia., was found at about the 9,000-foot level on Reid Glacier.  He also stated that Gullberg's body was transported off the mountain by rescue crews and a forensic examination was planned by the Clackamas County medical examiner. No details have been released on how he died or about the remaining climbers on the mountain.

Mount Hood is the tallest mountain in Oregon. It is a popular site among climbers in the United States. The mountain has been the site of dozens of climbing accidents and fatalities in the last 25 years. The National Weather Service forecasts slight warming temperatures Sunday morning, with snow fall tapering off and chances of an improvement in visibility levels.
