Allison Musacchio (left), Cindy Mauro (center) and Alini Brito -- teachers gone wild!
School sources said they learned of Musacchio's alleged antics in March, after a female James Madison student saw her ex-boyfriend's phone number on the tenured teacher's cell phone. Officials found more than 200 texts and calls between the teacher and the male pupil and yanked her from the classroom, sources said. They said the amount of contact was inappropriate. As it stands right now, Musacchio, Mauro and Brito have been pulled from classrooms and sent to "rubber rooms," while their cases are investigated. For those of you who don't know what a "rubber room" is, it is literally purgatory for teachers. It is officially known as a Temporary Reassignmnet Center where teachers who have been accused of misconduct, such as molesting a student, incompetence and just plain bad behavior is sent until a hearing takes place. According to an article in the New Yorker magazine, they are watched over by two private security guards and two city Department of Education supervisors, they punch a time clock for the same hours that they would have kept at school—typically, eight-fifteen to three-fifteen. I am still amazed that the outrage of parents being reported in the news is minimal. I would venture to say had this been two men caught in such a position, then all hell would break loose.
In a bizarre meeting of scandals, Musacchio is a member of a Facebook group set up by students wanting to talk about the language teachers' purported romance. Source: NY Daily News
