Female Student, 27, Shot at Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, La., Suspect Taken into Custody

A female student was shot at Booker T. Washington High School on Milam Street, Shreveport, La., this morning. A suspect is in custody. According to the Shreveport Times, the unidentified female student, 17, was fired upon when she arrived at the school. Police said the shooter was waiting for her. The girl has been taken to LSU Hospital in Shreveport with wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police believe the female student was a specific target of the gunman, who is a former BTW student, and say the shooting was the result of a previous altercation between the two. Police are interviewing the victim 's family to learn more about what may have led to the shooting.

Police have reportedly taken the suspect to police headquarters for questioning. Still developing. More to come....
