Jameshia Conner, 12, Strangled to Death, Body Found Hidden in Alley, No Suspects in Custody

Jameshia Conner, 12, has been found dead. She went missing on November 15th, and was last seen going on a CTA bus home to her parents. By about 3 a.m. the parents called the police because Jameshia never made it home. The child was found strangled to death and hidden in an alley near her home. Authorities believe that the kidnapper had just killed her the day before and left her dead in the alley.

Besides dealing with the untimely death of their daughter, the parents are irate over the handling of the case by the police. They said the case was handled wrong by the police who ruled it previously as a runaway. They claimed if the cops have investigated this correctly, their kid may still be alive.

Jameshia's father, Kawanis Conner, has thanked the officers who found his daughter's body. There will be a press conference on December 8th. According to HLN's "Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell," a Chicago Sun Times investigator has found that not all missing persons cases are treated equally, that race and age play a big factor in how they are handled. In Chicago, it is believed that many early-teens children are labeled as runaways, diminishing the severity of their missing person status. Of course, the Chicago Police Department has denied these allegations and has said that the police responded within two minutes of receiving the missing persons report.
