Kyrah Martin, 3, found unconscious and face-down in snow outside Brooklyn, NY, home. Later pronounced dead at hospital.
MyFox NY is reporting that Kyrah Martin, 3, of 1517 Park Place in Brooklyn, NY, was found in the snow outside her home Wednesday morning. The child was, according to police, found unconscious and lying face-down in the snow when she was found. Kyrah Martin was taken to Kings County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. This is such a sad turn of events in the life of this precious and beautiful child.
The child's mother, 35-year-old Nefertiti Martin, had reportedly gone to sleep with her four kids in the same bed. That's according to Kyrah's grandmother, Nadine Martin. Nefertiti was awakened by police who were searching apartments to find out where the child lived.
Kyrah Martin was reportedly found at around 1:15 a.m. According to MyFoxNY, cops said the injuries are consistent with a fall. The NYPD has launched an investigation.
UPDATE#1: According to the NY Post, the child fell in the snow from the fourth-floor roof in what is being characterized as an accident. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the NY Post that there were no other footprints found in the snow on the roof where the child fell. She was seen on video cameras walking out of the apartment and through the roof doors. Her mother was found after authorities went from door to door in the apartment building. The family is reportedly clients of the Department of Homeless Services, are recent arrivals to the building.
