Christopher Settlemoir, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Warren, MI, arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy and is being held on $1 million interim bond.
Another pastor has taken a mighty big fall. Christopher Settlemoir, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Warren, MI, "has been placed on paid administrative leave and has been relieved of all pastoral responsibilities," after he was arrested Friday on allegations he sexually assaulted a 15 year-old boy. Settlemoir also served as principal of the church's school, Antioch Baptist Academy.Settlemoir was arrested Friday after police executed search warrants on his home and at the church. He remains behind bars on a $1 million interim bond pending at his 1:30 p.m. arraignment in Warren District Court on criminal sexual conduct charges. He is expected to be charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual contact for acts over several recent months.
According to MyFoxDetroit, the boy's mother went to the police on Thursday with evidence including text messages. Warren police chief Bill Dwyer said investigators are trying to learn if there are others who believe they were sexually assaulted as well.
According to the church's website, Settlemoir is a 2001 graduate of Antioch Baptist Academy and a 2005 graduate of Hyles Anderson College in Crown Point, IN. He is a husband and a father. If the allegations are true, thanks to a very observant parent who went to the police to report this despicable act against her child.
