Two U.S. Marines, Keil Joseph Cronauer & Christopher Charles Stanzel, charged with misdemeanor for allegedly beating up gay man, Kieran Daly, in Savannah.
Marines Keil Joseph Cronauer, 22, and Christopher Charles Stanzel, 23, were arrested and charged with beating up a gay man, Kieran Daly, 26, in downtown Savannah, according to the
Savannah Morning News. The two men, who are stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C., are charged with misdemeanor battery assault on Daly, the newspaper reported.
The Marines told police they were being harassed by a gay man and wanted to get away from him, but witnesses contradicted that in the police report, according to the article. Police say one of the Marines hit Daly in the back of the head with his fist, knocking him unconscious, the newspaper reported.
"The guy thought I was winking at him," Daly told the newspaper from his hospital bed. "I told him, ‘I was squinting, man. ... I'm tired.'" Daly said he had two seizures after the assault and will have to stay in the hospital for several days, the newspaper said. Source
These two men didn't have to beat this man up. If he was winking at them, then walk away. Don't start a fight, which could have serious repercussions to their career in the military. Just walk away.
