Karla Delgallo critically injured and her six-month-old daughter, Gina, killed after being hit by falling tree branch at New York's Central Park Zoo.
HORROR: Karla Delgallo and her six-month old daughter, Gina, were reportedly standing in front of a sea lion exhibit at New York City's Central Park Zoo, getting their pictures taken, when a branch from a tree broke and hit them both, killing the baby.
German tourist Philipp Rams said he heard a cracking sound and turned to see the woman and baby on the stone driveway near the zoo's exit at E. 65th St. and Fifth Ave. "The father picked his baby up," Rams said. "He was carrying her. There was blood coming out of her ears."
Rams said a nurse from Quebec began giving Gina CPR. The mother and child, of Hoboken, both had cuts on their heads, he said. "The baby wasn't alive," said Rams, who appeared to be dazed. The mother reportedly tried to get out of the way but tripped and fell, and the baby flew out of her arms. Dang, now you have to worry about breaking branches interrupting a day out with the family! This is such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers to out to the family.
