Alex Santiago Bludgeoned to Death in Park Slope Brooklyn by Revenge-Seeking Mob After Dispute Turns to Fistfight

Alex Santiago bludgeoned to death by revenge-seeking mob, in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and friend stabbed, after dispute leads to fistfight.

Alex Santiago was clubbed to death by a mob of revenge-seekers, in Park Slope on Sunday, while Jonathan Burgos was repeatedly stabbed, but survived and is recuperating in a Brooklyn, NY, hospital. Police said the scuffle began when a fight broke out between Santiago and his friends and another group of men at a bodega. The second group left, but returned 10 minutes later in a black car to attack Santiago, according to Gothamist. The thugs savagely beat Santiago with crowbars and a tire iron. What's also shocking is the fact that these thugs, estimated to be about 20 people, perpetrated this horrific act in front of innocent bystanders.

Santiago's wife is pregnant and due to give birth next month. According to the NY Daily News, his head was bludgeoned and was pronounced dead when he was taken by ambulance to New York Methodist Hospital. He reportedly had five arrests on his record, including busts for felony assault, grand larceny and menacing, though that doesn't mean he deserved to be bludgeoned to death. The police are also mum on a motive for this violence, which they said followed a dispute.

It is sad that young people don't solve conflicts without violence and possibly death. Think back to when you were a child, did you solve your disputes with a crow bar and a tire iron? No. We solved them with words and in some cases fists, but the intent was to embarrass, never to maim or even kill. If you have any information, please contact the New York Police department. These thugs need to be taken off the streets of Brooklyn as soon as possible.
