Fatoumata Diallo Killed After Fainting and Falling in Front of Oncoming No. 6 NYC Subway Train

Fatoumata Diallo killed after fainting and falling in front of oncoming subway train on Upper East Side of Manhattan.

SHOCK: Fatoumata Diallo was killed after she passed out and fell in front of an oncoming New York No. 6 subway train Wednesday evening. According to media reports, Diallo had been standing on the platform at the 77th Street Station in the Upper East Side of Manhattan at about 3:09 p.m.
A woman was cut in half,’ one horrified witness told the New York Post. Police said that the woman had been waiting for an uptown number six train. The accident horrified commuters on the packed train. Evelyn Carbonell, 50, said the train jolted and came to a sudden halt.

‘I heard something go boom. I looked across and everyone had their hands over their mouths,’ she told DNAinfo. Shaq Crudup, 31, who was on the train, said that she felt a massive ‘thump’.‘You could feel it, I thought someone was shooting a shotgun,’ she said. Source
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Fatoumata Diallo's family. I am not clear where she was standing on the platform, but it seems she was close to the edge. I cannot impress upon riders enough to stay away from the edge of subway platforms. You have no room for error when you are close to the edge.
