Todd T. Brown, 14, Dies After Being Shot in the Head in Hallway AL Middle School, Shooter, a Fellow Student, in Police Custody

Todd T. Brown, 14, has died after being shot in the head in hallway at Discovery Middle School in Madison, AL. Another ninth grader in police custody for shooting. Victim in critical condition.

Todd T. Brown, 14, has died after he was shot in the back of the head by another ninth grader at Discovery Middle School in Madison, Alabama. The school said Brown has been transported to a local hospital. The shooting reportedly occurred as the boy was walking down the hallway. He is reportedly in extremely critical condition. A motive for this horrific crime has not been released by law enforcement and the perpetrator has been taken in police custody. The charges should be upgraded to murder in this horrific and senseless act of violence.

The middle school released the following statement:

Shooting at Discovery - Today, a ninth grade student at Discovery Middle School was shot by another ninth grade student. The shooting victim has been transported to the hospital. The alleged shooter is in police custody. No other students or faculty members at Discovery were harmed by the alleged shooter. Discovery Middle School students will be dismissed at regular time. It is a real shame and I am at my wits end about the violent tendency of many of our young people. The Associated Press is reporting that police are regularly stationed there. Madison, which has nearly 36,000 residents, is located in northern Alabama. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center is located at Redstone Arsenal.

This is such a sad situation. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this young man. I pray he will pull through.
