Fight between elderly white man and younger black man breaks out on Oakland bus, started with shoe-shining remark. Younger man sustains broken nose.

A fight between an elderly white man and a younger black man broke out on an Oakland bus, that some said was racially motivated and started because the elderly man's remark about shoe-shining. According to KPIX, Iyanna Washington, a student who shot the video with a small camera, "the white guy was asking the black guy for a shoeshine.""And I guess the black guy took it as a racist comment, like, 'Why's a black guy have to spit shine your shoes?'" As you can see on the video, the men shouted back and forth at each other until the older man moved to the front of the bus, with the younger man following him.

To the young brother, who got his butt kicked by an old man, you can't resolve your disputes by hitting. He struck the man first and he sustained a broken nose. He ended up with a bloody face because he threw the first punch. You can't do that. Clearly, the older man got up and moved to the front of the bus and he followed him.

Both men were reportedly taken to the hospital and, according to the transit authority's spokesman, the elder man was off his medication.
