Rumors continue to swirl around New York's Governor David Paterson and an upcoming New York Times story that promises to be a bombshell.
More drama from New York's governor David Paterson and this may be the mother of all scandals, at least that's how the media hype has been portraying this mess. Personally, I think David Paterson should not run for the position again on the grounds that he has been a largely ineffective governor and has nothing to show for the 23 months he has been in the office. This incompetence is inherent in his decision to award a lucrative Aqueduct gaming contract to a questionable consortium that includes Rev. Floyd Flake of Queens, which is literally set to implode. Several of his aides are threatening to resign because they consider the contract award to be corrupt.According to the NY Daily News some of his aides have complained privately about his lack of focus on critical issues, his poor work habits and late-night, booze-fueled "disappearances" at trendy nightclubs and undisclosed locations, even his State Police bodyguards had no clue where he was. How David Paterson was elected as lieutenant governor is beyond me. Surely some of this behavior must have been evident back then. It is ironic that Eliot Spitzer chose him in 2006 as his running mate in the gubernatorial election, which they won with 69 percent of the vote. It's a scary thought that someone so incompetent could have ever made it this far in state politics.
His wife, Michelle, has maintained that her husband, who is rumored to have held drug-fueled wife-swapping parties at the Governor's mansion, is being treated this way because he is black. She can't seem to see the writing on the wall -- David Paterson stinks! The New York Times is reportedly working on a potentially career ending story. The governor told Fox 5 News that he has no plans to step down, but that's nothing new. Didn't former President Bill Clinton tell the American people that he didn't have sexual relations with "that woman" and he had to admit he lied later? Didn't dirtbag John Edwards deny fathering a daughter with his jump-off Reille Hunter, only to recant those statements months later?
Paterson met privately with key Democratic leaders about his re-election plans as questions swirl around the state capitol about a variety of unproven accusations involving the Democratic governor's personal conduct. Paterson campaign spokesman Richard Fife reportedly said the weekend calls had nothing to do with the accusations but were "routine re-election campaign calls." "The governor started making calls two weeks ago to step up his campaign effort and get ready to officially announce his re-election campaign," Fife said. "The calls were -- and are -- going well ... And then look what happens -- a coordinated effort to stop him and spread rumors." Source: NY Fox 5 NewsI wish the New York Times would hurry up and publish this story, or do we need to get the National Enquirer on this case, since they busted John Edwards and Tiger Woods? Seems to me, where there is smoke, there is a fire. I have never seen a rumor take on such massive proportions and it would be in the best interest of the New York Times to publish its story sooner rather than later. It's a little suspect that the governor is suddenly huddling with party leaders. If the rumors are true, then he should do what any smart person would do, issue a statement admitting guilt. Then again, we aren't dealing with a smart person, so let the chips fall where they may. It's beginning to look a lot like another Cuomo will be in the governor's mansion in Albany.
