Police Continue Search for 3-Mo. Old Zara Malani-lin Abdur, Allegedly Thrown off NJ's Driscoll Bridge by Father Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem

Search continues for a third day for three-month old baby allegedly toss from Driscoll Bridge on the Garden State Parkway by her father, Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem.

New Jersey officials spent a third day desperately searching under a river bridge on the Garden State Parkway for three-month old Zara Malani-lin Abdur, whose father, Shamsiddi Abdur-Raheem, told police he threw her in the river from the Driscoll Bridge. Abdur-Raheem has been charged with kidnapping and attempted murder, aggravated assault and child endangerment. He is being held on $700,000 bail and will be arraigned in Superior Court in Newark on Thursday.

The odds of this baby surviving this long are slim, but it is still considered a rescue mission. Authorities said Adbur-Raheem, 21, took the baby from her maternal grandmother's East Orange apartment while her mother was getting a restraining order on Tuesday. According to New Jersey News Room, shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Abdur-Raheem allegedly forced his way into the grandmother’s apartment, struck the woman in the face and choked her. Abdur-Raheem then allegedly took the infant girl. The drama continued as she followed him outside and reportedly got in the front of his Dodge Caravan, in an attempt to stop him from taking the baby. He allegedly tried to run over her with the vehicle, striking her and driving off with the baby.

It should be noted that Adbur-Raheem went to Atlantic City to visit his Imam, who then reportedly drove him to the home of the relative who called police. Shameful that yet another act of violence has been perpetrated by another Muslim. This baby didn't deserve to be discarded like a piece of trash. If any member of the public has information regarding the infant, please call the State Police hotline 732-264-4150.
