Athens-Clark Police Search for Jamie Hood After One Officer Fatally Shot, Another Wounded

Manhunt launched for Jamie Hood after one police officer fatally shot, one wounded in Athens-Clark GA in apparent carjacking.

SHOCK: Another police officer has been shot and killed. Athens-Clark police officers are searching for Jamie Hood, who is suspected to be driving a silver Geo Prism with GA tag 375GHX. A gunman shot and killed one police officer and wounded another at the entrance of Cascades on the River apartments, according to Athens Banner-Herald.
Police warn people should consider the man armed and dangerous and call 911. Clarke County school leaders have placed all schools on lockdown.

Authorities swarmed a neighborhood off Atlanta Highway around 1:30, sealing off the area of Sycamore Drive, about midway between Alps Road and the Middle Oconee River. Police and other law enforcement officers were searching house-by-house for Jamie Hood, 33, a black man who weighs about 175 pounds and is 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He has lived in the area, police said. Hood may have carjacked of stolen the Geo Prism on Epps Bridge Parkway near Windy Hill Court.

Witnesses said he is bald or has close-dropped hair and barefoot, wearing blue shorts and a white T-shirt, possibly with a yellow design. Police are asking anyone who sees a person matching that description to call 911. Source: Athens Banner-Herald
