6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northeastern Myanmar, One Woman Dead

A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Myanmar Thursday night killing one woman. The shaking was felt as far away as Bangkok. No tsunami generated. According to media reports, the quake hit in an area where Myanmar, Thailand and Laos meet, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) from Chiang Rai.
