Veteran New York police officer Alain Scharbarger dies after being pushed and falling nearly nine feet by ex-con George Villanueva during domestic disturbance call in Brooklyn.
NYPD Officer Alain Scharbarger, 42, was pushed and fell about nine feet, fracturing his neck, by an ex-con as he responded to a domestic disturbance call in Brooklyn Sunday morning. Officer Schaberger was rushed to Lutheran Hospital where he died. According to the
NY Daily News, Schaberger was killed as he and two other cops attempted to handcuff George Villaneuva on the front stoop of his Boerum Hill home shortly before 5 a.m., Kelly said. Villanueva had threatened to kill his girlfriend at her home. It should be noted that she had an order of protection against him, but of course, that means nothing to some men.
Commissioner Ray Kelly described Scharbarger, a U.S. Navy veteran, as quiet and hardworking. His girlfriend and her family visited him at the hospital. Charges are pending against Villaneuva. Kelly said Villaneuva has 28 prior arrests, mostly for robbery and burglary. He was released from a state prison in 2005. He also was the aggressor in 12 prior domestic incidents involving his girlfriend and his mother. Source: NY Daily News
Why some of these criminals are allowed to re-enter society after multiple arrests is beyond me. George Villanueva should not be allowed to be out on the streets. Officer Schaberger was a U.S. Navy veteran. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
