Serena Williams Underwent Emergency Surgery for Pulmonary Embolism

Tennis great Serena Williams underwent emergency surgery for pulmonary embolism.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Serena Williams, who is currently hospitalized after undergoing surgery for a pulmonary embolism Monday. Her representatives said doctors are monitoring her condition closely. This is serious and we will continue to pray for her. I knew a woman, Judy Strobel, who died from a pulmonary embolism in 1999. She was a co-worker and it really hit home because there were signs of a medical problem that she ignored. When she finally decided to go to the hospital, it was too late. She was found dead in the hallway of her apartment building. I am glad Serena Williams got medical help quickly.
