Georgia State University student, Maxwell Fiandt, shot to death outside luxury apartment in downtown Atlanta. No suspect in custody.
Every parents' nightmare is to hear that their child has been killed. Atlanta police are investigating the fatal shooting of Maxwell Fiandt, a student at Georgia State University. He was reportedly shot in the back of the head Wednesday night outside the Pencil Factory luxury apartments near downtown Atlanta. Police said no one else was injured. According to the
Atlanta Journal Constitution, Maj. Keith Meadows said, "it looks like the victim had some guests and one of them got overly aggressive."
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Meadows said Fiandt, 20, was found shot dead just outside his loft apartment."One of his roommates heard a struggle at the door and came out to check," Meadows said. "The roommate heard a gunshot, and ran back into his room."
No motive is known, but a small amount of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms were found in the apartment and police have not ruled out the possibility that drugs played a part in the shooting."We have some information that the victim might have been selling marijuana," Meadows said. Source: AJC
Police said no suspects have been identified, but witnesses told detectives that two black men in their 20s, wearing dark clothing were seen fleeing the building. The Atlanta Journal Constitution is playing up the fact that the apartment building is not for the poor, but those with deep pockets. It states an apartment similar to the one the decedent lived in rents for about $2,000 a month. Who knows what this young man was mixed up in, but at least let's wait until the investigation is completed before slinging mud.
