John Patrick Bedell Dies After Shooting Two Pentagon Police Officers at Metro Train Station

Two Pentagon police officers were shot at the Metro station entrance to the military complex. The gunman John Patrick Bedell later dies from head wounds.

 John Patrick Bedell, 36, armed with two nine millimeter semiautomatic weapons and had several magazines of ammunition, died after opening fire on two Pentagon police officers outside a Metro station. According to the latest news reports, his internet postings reveal that he was a libertarian, conspiracy theorist and part of the Ludwig von Mises Facebook group. The Ludwig von Mises Institute is a think tank that has a working relationship with Ron Paul and is headed by Paul’s former chief of staff, Lou Rockwell.


Chief Richard Keevill said the shooter, who is from Hollister, Calif., spent the last several weeks driving from the West Coast. Police found his car in a local parking garage. According to media reports, Keevill said authorities found more ammunition in his vehicle. He died Thursday night from head wounds he sustained in a volley of fire with police.

The two injured officers were released from the hospital. One sustained a thigh wound, while the other was hit in the shoulder. The motive for this shocking display of gun violence is unknown.
