Resource Officer at Redan High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., Shot Outside School

Some areas of metro-Atlanta are fast becoming like the inner city areas of Chicago and Los Angeles. DeKalb police are on the scene of a shooting. Guess where? Near Redan High School. A resource officer was shot near the school located in Stone Mountain, Friday evening at about 3:30 p.m.

A representative for DeKalb County Schools said the resource officer noticed a fight on nearby Fieldgreen Drive and went to intervene. When the officer tried to intervene, a non-student pointed a gun at the resource officer, at which point the officer fired his weapon, the school system said.

Police spokesman Jason Gagnon confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that one person was shot in the arm. The victim has non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Source: WSB-TV
