Staten Island Couple, Arthur & Marian Bellucci, Allegedly Stabbed to Death by Emotionally Disturbed Son, Eric Bellucci

Police are looking for Eric Bellucci, an emotionally disturbed man, in the stabbing deaths of his parents, Arthur & Marian Bellucci, whose bodies were found by police inside their Staten Island, NY, home Wednesday night. According to the New York Daily News, police were called to the home after the victims' daughter, Vanessa Bellucci, had been alerted by another relative who couldn't reach the couple by telephone. Police are operating under the assumption that Eric Bellucci boarded a plane, according to the NY Daily News.
"She opened the door and saw blood on the floor in the foyer,'' said Joe Ciervo, a relative of the victims. "She knew something was bad in there. She didn't want to go in. "She left right away and called 911."

The son, Eric Bellucci, 30, described by Ciervo as a schizophrenic who often refused to take his medication, fled the state in a silver 2007 Honda Ridgeline. The car was found early Thursday morning inside a parking lot at Newark Airport, police sources said. Authorities suspect he boarded a flight and said he is considered armed and dangerous.

The daughter, Ciervo said, had moved in with him and his wife, Terre, after of a frightening manic episode with her brother some months ago in which he threatened to kill her. Arthur Bellucci worked as a real estate agent. His wife ran a home health care business in New Jersey. Source
Mental illness cannot be swept under a rug and ignored by medical personnel and even families. If this man is truly mentally challenged, then he needed treatment that would have prevented such an unspeakable act of violence against his parents.

UPDATE#1 (10/14/10):  Police have launched an international manhunt Eric Bellucci after learning he may have boarded a flight to Tel Aviv, where a friend of his reportedly lives.  According to the NY Daily News, family members described Eric Bellucci as a schizophrenic with a high IQ who graduated from Stuyvesant and later excelled at baseball and football at elite Williams College.

UPDATE#2 (10/15/10): Suspect was caught in Israel trying to buy a plane ticket.
