Phoenix High School Junior Ridge Barden Dies After Sustaining Head Injury During Football Game in Homer, NY

Another high school football player, Ridge Barden, a junior at Phoenix High School in upstate New York, died after suffering a head injury during a game at Homer High School Friday night. He was transported to Cortland Hospital where he died. According to Syracuse.com, Coach Jeff Charles said the injuries occurred in the third quarter of the game between Phoenix and Homer high schools. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this young man. I am very reluctant to allow my oldest son to play high school football because of the high incidence of player injuries.
