Young NC couple, Ashley McGill & professional boxer Frederick McClinton Sr., who have had a history of domestic violence, found dead in murder-suicide.
Young couple,
Ashley McGill and her professional boxer husband
Frederick McClinton Sr., were found dead Monday in an
apparent murder-suicide. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the couple, who were married last year, had a tumultuous relationship. In January of this year, McGill had an
protective order after she accused him of choking and threatening to kill her. Well, he finally followed through on his words because she is now dead. This is another case of
domestic violence. Forsyth County sheriff's deputies found the couple's four year old son outside the home with an adult relative.
Chief Deputy Brad Stanley of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide. He declined to say who shot who and did not immediately know the location of the gunshot wounds or how many times each person was shot. McClinton, a professional boxer, and McGill started dating in the ninth grade and had an volatile on-and-off relationship, according to court papers.
McGill filed three domestic-violence protective orders against McClinton in 2008, 2009 and 2011. In all three cases, the orders were dismissed because McGill either didn’t come to court or declined to prosecute. Then on Jan. 28 of this year, Brittany Bailey, whom McClinton had recently dated while he was married to McGill, filed a domestic-violence protective order against McClinton.
McGill had accused McClinton of beating her and choking her, according to her domestic-violence complaints. She also said McClinton harassed her and her family. In one incident, he banged his head on doors and in another incident, he cut his leg, spelling out her name. Source
It is so unfair that this little boy will grow up without a mother and father. He will most likely bear some scars.
Domestic violence is no respecter of socioeconomic status or race. It is another silent killer in our communities. I am not blaming Ms. McGill in any way for what happened, but if she had to take out three protective orders against this man, she should have left a long time ago. You can't seek help and then not follow through. She could have been suffering from a Stockholm Syndrome as well. It's easy for others to criticize her, but you have to be smart. Chances are, if a man threatens to kill you, he will do it one day, given the opportunity. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the four year old child left behind.
