Activists on Quest to Remove "Moved from Nigger Hill Cemetery" Words from 36 Gravestones in California

Group of activists pushing to have derogatory N-word removed from 36 gravestones marked "Unknown. Moved from Nigger Hill Cemetery by U.S. Government" in California cemetery.

Nigger Hill Cemetery exists in the United States, in an age where some say we are in a post-racial America. Right. A group of California activists are trying to get the markers -- "Unknown. Moved from Nigger Hill Cemetery by U.S. Government 1954" -- replaced with the original name, Negro Hill. That's still not good enough, but I suppose, acceptable. The activists have run into some obstacles. They can't find anyone to take responsibility for fixing the so-called error. Sorry, this was done in an era where it was acceptable for whites to refer to blacks as niggers, so it wasn't an error in my opinion. According to media reports, the Army Corps of Engineers had the graves relocated to make way for a new reservoir. The county basically said its hands are tied and welcomes a solution from the Corps. So, round and round we go......
