Former French Minister Jack Lang Calls Treatment of IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn a "Lynching"

Former French Culture Minister calls treatment of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, being held on rape charges & shown with handcuffs and unshaven, as a "lynching."

Never mind that fact that IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is charged with a serious crime of rape in the U.S., the French socialist politicians are upset at him being pictured handcuffed and unshaven in the news media. Actually, this is what really galls me about what is being said by the French -- former Culture Minister Jack Lang described the treatment as a "lynching" that had "provoked horror and aroused disgust." It's quite obvious Mr. Lang doesn't even begin to understand what the word "lynching" means before throwing it out there. Mr. Strauss-Kahn could have very easily paid a prostitute to satisfy his sexual needs, not allegedly rape this woman. Whose character is really being "lynched?" It's so easy to throw racially-tinged words in the mix. Considering what the French did to Haiti, they should be the last to use the word "lynching" in a statement.
The U.S. justice system, he said, was "politicized" and the judge appeared to have been determined to "make a Frenchman pay" by denying the head of the International Monetary Fund bail even though his lawyer had offered to post a $1 million bond.

Socialist Party leader Martine Aubry denounced "degrading images" and said France was lucky to have a law on the presumption of innocence that bars media from showing defendants in handcuffs before they are convicted. Source
He was denied bond because after the alleged rape, he fled. It makes one wonder if he had planned to time the alleged rape close to the time he would have left to catch his flight to France. Either way, he's a flight risk and should be held until the judge is satisfied he won't try to flee the country. Let's not forget filmmaker Roman Polanski fled the U.S. in the wake of rape allegations and the authorities were never able to get him extradited. We won't make the same mistake twice. It's also interesting that Strauss-Kahn is now saying that the sexual encounter was consensual. Really? I see where this is going -- blame the victim.

UPDATE#1 (05/17/11 4:29 PM): The victim has been identified as a West African single mother of a 15 year old girl. The victim, who lives in the Bronx, is a devout Muslim, According to media reports, her lawyer Jeffrey Shapiro said she had no idea who Dominique Strauss-Kahn was until a day or two after the attack. Watch for all the race-baiters to unleash their vile attack on this woman's character.

UPDATE#2: Strauss-Kahn is on suicide watch, according to the NY Daily News. If that isn't an admission of guilt, then I don't know what is. Why would you want to kill yourself if you are innocent?
