Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin says disgraced former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn may have been set up and sex assault charges brought by African maid at swank Sofitel hotel are bogus.
Far be it for the Russians to take a moral position on anything and I am not surprised Russian prime minister
Vladimir Putin has come to the rescue of disgraced former
IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who has been accused of
sexual assault on an
African maid at the swank
Sofitel hotel. Putin said sex-assault charges against Strauss-Kahn are likely bogus and hinted that they may be part of a conspiracy to bring him down. In American courts, an accused is innocent until proven guilty, but let's look at the man who has been accused -- a known philanderer and it's not out of the realm of possibilities that he could have sexually assaulted this woman.
"It is hard for me to evaluate the hidden political motives," the Russian prime minister said in comments posted on the official Kremlin Web site. "But I cannot believe that it looks the way it was initially introduced. It doesn't sit right in my head." Source
